Abstract

The crystal structure of the aquadichloro(di-2-pyridyldiazene)-copper(II) monohydrate, [CuCl<inf>2</inf>C<inf>10</inf>H<inf>8</inf>N<inf>4</inf>)(H <inf>2</inf>O)] .H<inf>2</inf>O. was investigated. It was found that the crystal packing of the sample involved both hydrogen-bonding and π-π interactions. The solvent water molecule linked three monomers to one another through hydrogen-bonding interactions in which two monomers were linked via chloro ligands and the third via the aqua ligand. It was also observed that the extensive network of hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions stabilized the crystal structure and thus formed an infinite three-dimensional lattice.
