Abstract
Çepniler, Oğuzların yirmi dört boyundan biridir. Araştırma sahası içinde (Beşikdüzü, Şalpazarı, Eynesil, Görele) bugün var olan Çepnilerde Eski Türk inanışlarının izlerinin neler olduğu tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Böylece Anadolu'ya gelen Türklerin başka bir dinin tesiri altına girmiş olmalarına rağmen Eski Türk inanış ve uygulamalarını devam ettirdiklerini göstermek amaçlanmıştır. Bunu yaparken yörede mülakat ve doğal gözlem yöntemi uygulanarak pek çok derleme faaliyeti gerçekleştirilmiştir. Toplanan halk inançları içerisinde, geçmişle bağlantısı kurulan inanışlar ayrı olarak ele alınmıştır. Çepnilerin Anadolu'ya gelmelerine ve başka bir dinin tesiri altına girmelerine rağmen Eski Türk inanış ve uygulamalarının izlerini taşıyan pek çok inanca ve ritüele sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Bunların bir kısmı İslamiyet'in etkisiyle değişerek dönüşmüş, bir kısmı ise asli fonksiyonunu sürdürmüştür. Yörede Tek Tanrı inancının yanında yardımcı ve koruyu iyelere, kara iyelere, yer-sub, ev- ocak iyelerine inanılmaktadır. Ata-arvak ruhlarının yaşayan kişiler üzerindeki tasarruflarının devam ettiği düşünülmektedir. Ayrıca bölgede kemençeli âşıkların varlığı ve bunların sosyal hayatta aktif olarak kullanılması mevcuttur. Doğumdan ölüme kadar geçen süreçte, düğünlerden cenazelere, baharın gelişiyle mart ve kalandar bozması uygulamalarından, Hıdırellez ve mayıs yedisine kadar pek çok törende yardımcı ve koruyucu iyelerin yanında kara iyelere de cansız kurban örneği olan saçılar yapılmaktadır. Mayıs yedisinin, Orta Asya'da aynı zaman diliminde ve bugünkü şekliyle kutlandığı tespit edilmiştir. Anahtar Sözcükler: mayıs yedisi, mart bozması, yardımcı ve koruyucu iyeler, ata-arvak ruhları.
Chepnies is one of twenty-four Oguz tribes. In this work it is tried to determine what the traces of ancient Turkic beliefs are among Chepnies that presently live in the research field (Beşikdüzü, Şalpazarı, Eynesil, Görele). It has been aimed to show that the Turks coming to Anatolia though entered under the influence of another religion, have continued the former Turkic beliefs and practices. Many compilation activities were carried out by applying in the region the methods of interviewing and natural observation. Among the folk beliefs those that have been associated with the past were considered separately. It has been observed that Chepnies have many beliefs and rituals that carry traces of ancient Turkic beliefs and practices even though they entered under the influence of another religion when they had come to Anatolia. Some of these beliefs and rituals changed and transformed under the influence of Islam, while some others maintained their original functioning. In the region alongside the Monotheistic belief the assisting and guardian spirits, black spirits, spirits of land, water, house and family are still believed. It is thought that protecting-ancestor spirits have still influence over the living people. Furthermore there are still minstrels with kemancha living and playing an active role in the social life of the region. In the course from birth to death, from weddings to funerals, from practices of 'kalandar' (a month between January 14 and February 13) and 'Mart Bozması' (March Breaking) to ceremonies in the seventh of May and 'Hıdırellez', many possessions are offered to assisting and protecting spirits and dark spirits as samples of non-living sacrifices. It is confirmed that the Seventh of May is being celebrated in the region in the same time period and in the same pattern as in the Central Asia.
