Tavus Kelebeği, Inachis İo (L.), (Lepidoptera:Nymphalidae)'nin Besin Tercihine Etki Eden Kimyasal Faktörler

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, monofaj herbivor bir böcek olan Inachis io (L.) larvalarının besin tercihi, bitkinin kimyasal içeriği bakımından araştırılmıştır. /. io larvaları 41 gün süren beslenme deneyiyle incelenmiştir. /. io larvalarının Urtica dioica (L.) ile beslendiği haziran ayında bitki yapraklarının su içeriği yaklaşık % 74, toplam protein içeriği yaklaşık % 21, lif miktarının % 57,5, toplam fenolik madde içeriğinin ise yaklaşık % 2,6 oranında olduğu belirlenmiştir. Larva beslenmesinin olmadığı temmuz ayında ise fenolik madde miktarında, lif miktarında ve su seviyesinde düşüş kaydedilirken toplam protein miktarı artmıştır. Haziran ayında yüksek fenolik içeriği erken böcek beslenmesine tepki olarak ortaya çıkmış olabilir. /. io larvalarının son larva dönemleri süresince tükettikleri besini biyomasa dönüştürebilme oranları (ECI) ve sindirilen besini biyomasa dönüştürebilme oranları Ceierio euphorbiae (L.) ile karşılaştırılırca C euphorbiae'öan daha düşük değerler elde edilmiştir. Bu sonuç, C. euphorbia larvalarının beslendiği Euphorbia rigida (L.)'nın su içeriğinin U. dioica'dan daha yüksek olmasından kaynaklanabilir. U. cf/o/ca'nın besin kalitesi oldukça yüksek olduğu için /. io, Vanessa atalanta (L) ve Aglais urticae (L.) gibi birçok böcek tarafından besin olarak tercih edilmektedir. In this study, the food choice of Inachis io larvae, a monofagous insect herbivore, was investigated in respect to chemical contents of food plant. The feeding experiment was carried out with /. io larvae in a 41 -day experiment. Water, total protein, fiber and total phenolic contents of Urtica dioica (L.) in June when the larvae of /. io were fed on were 74 %, 21 %, 57,5 % and 2,6 % respectively. But, there was increase in the total protein content of the plant in July when the larvae were not feed, while the water and total phenolic and fiber contents were decreased. The higher total phenolic contents of the plant food in June was probably a response to the insect feeding. When the efficiency of conversion of ingested food to biomass (ECI) and the efficiency of digested food to biomass (ECD) ratios during the last instar of the /. io larvae were compared with those of Celerio euphorbiae (L), it was found that the values belonged to /. io were lower than C. euphorbiae's. These results were due to the higher water content of Euphorbia rigida (L.) that were fed by C. euphorbiae than U. dioica's. Because of the higher food quality of U. dioica, it has been chosen as food plant by many insects such as /. io, Vanessa atalanta (L.) and Aglais urticae (L).
