Abstract
In this study, the cultural accumulation of immigrants and the use of traditional life knowledge in the new, place were investigated during the adaptation process to the new urban environment. For this reason, Artvin people who migrated to Bursa were chosen as the research universe. The cultural activities of the residents of Artvin who live in Bursa and the people who migrated to Bursa were observed and interviews were conducted. According to the data of TUIK in 2018, Bursa is the city with the highest population living outside Artvin although registered to the province of Artvin. The population of Artvin is concentrated in certain districts of the province (Yildirim, Gursu, Osmangazi, Kestel). Having lived in interaction with nature in the past, this population has played an active role in practicing its knowledge and experience in many areas such as housing, food production, environmental use and social relations. Therefore, through their traditional knowledge migrants can transfer to new places man-made products developed in harmony with the environment. All these behaviours carried out with residential construction knowledge constitute an important example for cultural ecology. These elements are generally housing construction, land ownership and quality, traces of highland culture, food culture and social activities, use of local words. In the context of keeping harmony and belonging in the city, social relations and cultural relations with the social organizations are tried to be kept alive.
