Case records of 32 patients (22 female and 10 male) with sacrococygeal teratoma who were treated in our department between 1984 and 1994 were reviewed. 27 patients had benign sacrococygeal teratoma and the majority of the benign sacrococygeal teratomas were newborns. Total excision with coccygectomy was performed in this group. In contrast, only one of the patients with malignant tumor was a newborn. In malignant group excision and multiagent chemotherapy were used for the treatment and two recurrences were noted. The average survival was increased and early mortality was decreased for all patients in comparison with past decades.en_US
