The Professional Proficiencies of Imams

Abstract

This study examines the levels of professional proficiencies of imams who work for the Presidency of Religious Affairs in terms of religious duties. For this purpose, a "Personal Information Questionnaire" and the "Scale for Religious Professional Proficiency" were prepared by the researcher himself and administered to 600 imams who work in Samsun, Amasya and Trabzon between the dates of March 1 and April 30, 2012. For the analysis of data, T-test and analysis of variance were used. It was found that the levels of religious proficiency of the imams who graduated from the Faculties of Theology were higher than those of the levels of pre-level of Faculties of Theology and Imam and Preacher High School.
