Abstract
In this study, phosphorus adsorption capacity of the soil samples taken fromBafra Plain, Ilgaz and Merzifon areas in the Black Sea Region, with different physical, chemical and texturel properties are examined. The phosphorous adsorption isothermsof 5 soil samples are evaluated according to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms; thenboth the Langmuir parameters, which are b (adsorption maximum) and k (adsorptionenergy factor) values, and parameters related to Freundlich isotherms, which are K(adsorption capacity factor) and n (adsorption intensity factor), are determined. The adsorption capacities of the soil samples are figured out using the Langmuirisotherms. The adsorption maximum (b values) of adsorption capacity is estimatedrespectively as -256.41, 208.33, 185.18, 59.17 and 138.88 mgP/kg. K values (adsorptionbinding-energy variable) are computed respectively as-0.016, 0.227, 0.540, 0.052 and0.196.The Freundlich isotherm parameters for these soil samples are as the followings. As a result of experiments, n (adsorption intensity factor) for the samples are figured outrespectively as 0.854, 1.543, 2.263, 2.23 and 1.88. K values, another Freundlichparameter, are computed as 3.515, 39.17, 59.92, 7.259 and 26.07 respectively. It isobserved that some physical and chemical properties of soil samples have an impact onthe adsorption. When soil textures are taken into consideration, it is concluded that the Padsorption occurs at high percentages especially in clay soils.Using the calculated Freunlich and Langmuir parameters from the adsorptionisotherms it is easy to evaluate adsorped and labile P concentrations in soil solid andsoil water phases with respect to P pollution. Keywords: Phosphorus adsorption, Langmuir and Freundlich Parameters,Phosphorus Concentration.
