| dc.description.abstract | In the last years, the association of age related macular degeneration with genetics and hereditary was investigated. The aim of this study is to indicate the presence or absence of the relationship between age related macular degeneration (AMD) and HLA antigens. Forty two patients with age related macular degeneration and 30 controls of similar age group were included in the study. The diagnosis of AMD was based on fundus examination and fundus flourescein angiography. HLA antigens of both group were determined and compared with each others. In the evaluation of the results some differences had been detected in some locus, however, these differences were not significantly different. We conclude that there was no significant relationship between AMD and HLA antigens. | en_US |
