Publication: Biyostimülanlar ile Birlikte Biochar'ın Toprak Kalitesi ve Triticum Aestivum L. Verimliliği Üzerine Etkisi
Abstract
The necessity for sustainable soil management arose as a result of soil degradation caused by intense agricultural soil cultivation, which employs hazardous chemicals to increase production. Soil degradation can be remedied by many methods, such as using biochar and environmentally friendly fertilizers. This study investigated the combined application of biochar and two distinct biostimulants in varied doses, with the hypothesis that synergy between biochar and biostimulants increases wheat productivity and soil quality. In a greenhouse, three doses of two distinct biostimulant types (acidic and alkaline), both with and without biochar, as well as sole biochar and control were examined using a completely randomized design from December 2023 to April 2024. Analysis of variance and least significant difference (LSD) at 95% confidence level (α=0.05) were used to assess the impact of these treatments. Standard scoring function and analytical hierarchy process were used to calculate the soil quality index (SQI) from 21 indicators. Moreover, principal component analysis (PCA) was used to select a minimum data set (MDS) and SQI was also determined using MDS. The results revealed that the combination of biochar with either of the biostimulants at 10% dose improved wheat productivity (ekofertile®_ 1.592 and microfertile®_ 1.582 t ha-1) significantly. And, the soil quality index, regardless of the method employed, was significantly highest in the combination of biochar and ekofertile® (10% and 15 %). Also, strong positive correlation was noticed between grain yield and SQI. Consequently, the use of biochar and biostimulants together increased wheat productivity and improved soil quality.
