Abstract
Pontosun son kralı Mithridates VI Eupator Dionysos dönemi Hellenistik Çağın önemli evrelerinden birini oluşturmaktadır. Karadeniz Bölgesinde Anadolu halklarını Roma emperyalizminden kurtarmak için Romalılara karşı giriştiği ve tarihe Mithridates Savaşları olarak geçen bu savaşlarda VI. Mithridates VI Eupator Romalıları epeyce uğraştırmış, büyük askeri başarılar elde etmiş ama sonunda Romalı komutan Pompeus Magnus tarafından yenilerek kaçmış ve ölmüştür. VI. Mithridates dönemi bronz darpları Karadenizin güney sahilerinde Dia (Akçakoca), Amastris (Amasra), Sinope (Sinop), Amisos (Samsun) Kotyora (Ordu), Khabakta (Ünye/kaleköy) ve iç kesimde Kabeira (Niksar) şehirlerinde olmak üzere çok büyük emisyonlarda ve aynı tiplerde basılmışlardır. Bu çalışmada Erzurum Müzesinde yer alan ve büyük çoğunluğu Amisos olmak üzere Sinope, Amastris ve Diasta basılan, toplam 42 adet Mithridates VI Eupator dönemi bronz darp ele alınmıştır.
Mithridates VI Eupator Dionysos was the last king of the Pontos Kingdom; his era is one of the most important eras of the Hellenistic Period. Mithridates VI Eupator fought against the Roman Republic and their imperialistic ambitions againts the Anatolian public in the Black Sea Region. Allthough he fought well and achieved big military accomplishements in the process against the Romans he was finally defeated by the Roman general Gnaeus Pompeus Magnus resulting in his escape which he died soon after. Bronze minted coins of Mitridates VI Eupator has been found in the Black Sea Regions Southern coast cities; Dia (Akçakoca), Amastris (Amasra), Sinope (Sinop), Amisos (Samsun), Kotyora (Ordu), Khabakta (ünye/Kaleköy) and also in the inland city of Kabeira (Niksar) with great quantity and in the same type. In this work/publishment 42 bronze minted coins of Mithridates VI Eupator era has been evaluated. These coins are located in Erzurum Museum and where unearthed from mostly at Amisos and others from Sinope, Amastris and Dias.
