Abstract
In the title compound, C<inf>4</inf>H<inf>12</inf>+· C<inf>8</inf>H<inf>3</inf>Cl<inf>2</inf>O<inf>4</inf>-, the hydrogen 4,5-dichlorophthalate ions are linked to the tetramethylammonium ions through C - H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating two edge-fused motifs, viz. R <inf>2</inf>1(6) and S(7)R<inf>1</inf>2(7). The cation and all atoms of the anion lie on a mirror plane. © 2006 International Union of Crystallography. All rights reserved.
