Tarihi Sinop Kalesi Cezaevi
Özet
Eski çaglardan beri deniz ve ticaret kenti olarak bilinen Sinop Anadolu’nun en eski sehirlerinden biridir. Tunç çagından günümüze dek çesitli uygarlıkların bulustugu Sinop’u yüzyıllardır bu kadar vazgeçilmez kılan sey sahip oldugu cografi konumudur. Sinop sehri anakara ile Boztepe yarımadasının birlestigi kıstak (yükselmis tombolo) üzerinde kurulmus ve tarih boyunca güçlü kalesi ve dogal limanı ile dikkat çekmistir. Sinop’ta Karadeniz’e hâkim olmak isteyen bütün uygarlıkların izlerini bulmak mümkündür. Sehir sırasıyla Romalıların, Bizanslıların, Selçukluların ve Osmanlıların hâkimiyetinde kalmıstır. Selçuklular döneminde sehre büyük önem verilmis, bu dönemde Sinop Kalesi güçlendirilerek bir bölümü dönemin en önemli tersanelerinden biri haline getirilmistir. Osmanlılar döneminde de varlıgını sürdüren tersane, 1887’den itibaren hapishane olarak kullanılmaya baslanmıstır. Sinop hapishanesi cografi konumu ve yüksek duvarlarla çevrili bir kaleden meydana gelmesi nedeniyle buradan kaçmanın imkânsızlıgı yüzünden mahkûmların korkulu rüyası olmus, Sinop sehri de hapishanesi ile anılmaya baslamıstır. 1997’de mahkûmlar yeni cezaevine tasınmıs, Tarihi Sinop hapishanesi günümüzde müze olarak kullanılmaya baslanmıstır. Bu arastırmada Tarihi Sinop Kalesi Cezaevi cografi bakıs açısıyla ele alınmıs ve degerlendirilmistir. Sinop is one of the important trade and harbor city is located at the northeast point of Anatolia from the Ancient ages until today. What has made important Sinop, which has served as the meeting point of various civilizations, since the Ancient Ages until today, so inevitable for centuries, is doubtlessly its geographical position. It lies on an isthmus linking the Boztepe peninsula to the mainland. Sinop has the only safe natural harbor with its land approaches barred by a huge citadel and its sea side defended by a strong wall on the north coast of Asia Minor. It is possible to find traces a lot of civilizations in Sinop. The city entered into domination of Romans, Byzantines, Seljukids and Ottomans. Seljukids has given important port and the largest ships of its time have been constructed in the shipyards of Sinop. The Sinop Castle was the largest shipyard of the Black Sea Ottoman Period, too. The “Historical Sinop Prison“ was built in the Inner Castle by Governor Veysel Pasha in 1887. The prison, which is surrounded by high walls, has made impossible fort prisoners to escape. The building was handed over to the Ministry of Culture, to be used for cultural purposes (1999). The aim of this study to give general information about The Historical Castle-Prison of Sinop from geographical point of view.
