Effect of NOS inhibitors applied with cadmium sulphate on total lipid and protein quantities in central nervous system of rat (Wistar albino)
Özet
The present study was designed to assess the effects of a specifc NOS inhibitor aminoguanidine (AG) and a NO precursor L-Arginine (L-Arg) on the total lipid and protein quantities in brain and cerebellum of Wistar albino rats after CdSO4 injection into the somatomotor cortices. For this purpose 5 groups of rats, each containing 7 animals were formed as non-operated, control, cadmium, Cd+L-Arg and Cd+AG respectively. Rats in cadmium groups received 0.0021 mg/kg intracortical Cd injection in the left hemisphere, lateral to Bregma. Control group received the same volume of saline. Cd+AG group received i.p AG injections for 15 days after the intracortical Cd injections twice a day in 100 mg/kg doses, respectively. Cd+L-Arg group received i.p L-Arg injections for 15 days after the intracortical Cd injections twice a day in 1000 mg/kg doses, respectively, too. Non-operated group received neither any treatment nor any operation. In conclusion, it was determined that CdSO 4 lowers the total lipid and protein quantities, and affects the rats toxically when compared to other groups. In addition, our results are new fndings suggesting that the toxic effect of CdSO4 was decreased by spesifc NOS inhibitor AG in rat. L-Arg also appeared to augment this toxic effect of CdSO4. © 2011 OMÜ Tüm haklari saklidir.
