New factors in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis (OA) is appearing as an important health problem which can cause obesity and many pathological conditions induced by obesity. This health problem has economical effects especially on developed countries searching solutions for a long time. Recently in pathogenesis of OA, along with the mechanical triggering of obesity, role of the other factors are being thought of. New studies are showing that systemic inflammations and insulin resistance at obesity and metabolic syndrome (MSd) have important roles at pathogenesis of OA by the effects on the metabolism of striated muscles. The role of low chronic inflammation in pathogenesis of MSd and obesity is appearing recently. In this review we will try to explain the role of some new factors in the pathogenesis of OA.
