Left ventricular aneurysmectomy: Samsun experience
Özet
Different surgical techniques have been employed in the treatment of left ventricular aneurysms, which were one of the potential complications of transmural myocardial infarctions. Between January 1992 - December 2002, 41 diagnosed cases of left ventricular aneurysms were assessed retrospectively. Aneurysms were repaired by linear suturing technique in 35 cases, and by endoventricular patch technique in 6 cases. In 3 cases (7.32%) simple aneurysmectomy and in 38 cases (92.68%) coronary by-pass in addition to aneurysmectomy were performed. Hospital mortality was 2.44%. Surgical treatment of aneurysms is still important in the management of patients with ischemic heart disease. The choice of repairing technique should be made depending on preoperative cardiac condition of the patient.
