Catecholamine is the name of a group of aromatic amines (norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine, and their derivates). Catecholamines are synthetized from aminoacid tyrosine, and act as hormones and neurotronsmitters. They act on the the metabolism as well as on the peripheral circulation and help the body to cope with acute and chronic stress. There are various plasma norepinephrine assays such as, fluorimetric assays, enzymatic assays, liquid chromatographic assays, radioimmunoassays. In this article, radioimmunoassay determination for norepinephrine in plasma is reviewed.en_US
