modelleme ile, çimlenme oranın tahmin edilmesi olanağı da araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla;
türetilmiş model tarafımızdan geliştirilerek [D= a +(b x T)+(c x T2
),
Optimum temperature values required for seed germination and emergence in plant
production differ according to plant species or varieties. Temperature is an important
environmental factor affecting the germination and emergence occurrence. The cultured
Capsicum chinense genotypes within the genus Capsicum shows a high level of
variation in terms of seed viability, seed size, seed shape and seed colour. In this study,
it was aimed to determine the effects of temperature on germination and emergence
capacity of C. chinense seeds. In the research; germination performances of C. chinense
seeds were determined at 11 different temperatures (9 oC, 12 oC, 15 oC, 18 oC, 21 oC, 24
oC, 27 oC, 30 oC, 33 oC, 36 oC, 39 °C). As a result of the research; it was determined
that there was no germination between 9 oC and 15 oC, and the germination speed and
germination ratios increased depending on the rising temperatures at 21 oC and 33 oC
temperature ranges. In C. chinense genotypes, the highest germination rates were
determined at 24 oC and 27 oC temperature treatments. It was determined that CC63 and
CC51 genotypes were higher than other genotypes in terms of germination rate values.
In addition, the possibility of predicting the germination rate by mathematical modelling
based on temperature was also investigated. For this purpose, for the prediction of
germination and emergence potentials, the previously derived model by Uzun et al.
(2001) was developed by us and used as [D= a +(b x T)+(c x T2)]. The regression
coefficients (R2
) of the equations produced for each genotype were found to be between
0.33 and 0.95 for the germination rate values. The emergence trials were carried out at
24 oC and 27 oC temperatures, which are the optimum temperature values due to the low
amount of seeds belonging to the genotypes. In C. chinense genotypes, The emergence
rates of C. chinense genotypes at 24 oC were found to be higher than at 27 oC. As a
result of the thesis study, it is planned to evaluate the genotypes that stand out in terms
of germination and emergence performances, in the rootstock breeding program for
grafted pepper seedlings.
