A statistical evaluation on spelling level of students in the primary education in Amasya

This article has been prepared on spelling levels of students in the primary education in Amasya. In the study, the data obtained through the statistical study was used consisting of 450 students chosen randomly in the 6th, 7th and 8th classes of 15 primary schools in the city center of Amasya. These data have been presented in the article in detail in the form of tables and graphics. The observed spelling mistakes in the article are "using capital letters, lengthening, consonant harmony, writing conjunctions of 'ki' and 'de', adding question suffix and spelling of some special words". The obtained data indicated that the average success level of the students participated in the research is % 68.33. If we take into account importance of spelling rules by the point of their writings, we understand that these data mark an important problem: Spelling levels of the students in the second step of primary education in Amasya is lower than the expected level.
