Homocystein and its role on cardiovascular patologies
Özet
Homocystein is an aminoacid that acts an important role in the metabolisms of folat and methionin. Hyperhomocysteinemia is an important and independable risk factor for the cardiovascular diseases. There is an important relation between thromboembolic and arteriosclerotic diseases such as myocardial infarction, serebrovascular diseases, peripheral arterial diseases and high homocystein degree. Although it has not been certainly accepted homocystein is tought to make its affect by the free radicals that come out by the oxidation reaction. By several study it has been shown that treatments made by combine folic acid and vitamin B6 results with a 50 % decrease in the homocystein values. But there is not still an agreement that this declination decreases or stops down the aterosclerotic process.
