3-(3-Pyridylamino)isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one

Abstract

The crystal packing of the title compound, C13H10O2N2, is stabilized by one N-H center dot center dot center dot N and two C-H center dot center dot center dot O intermolecular hydrogen bonds and also by two C-H center dot center dot center dot pi interactions. The N-H center dot center dot center dot N and C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds generate an edge-fused R-3(3)(19) ring motif and the phthalide section of the molecule is planar. The dihedral angle between the phthalide group and the pyridyl ring is 87.28 (10)degrees.
