Abstract

The title compound, C14H11NO3, is stabilized by intermolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot O, N-H center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds, and by three C-H center dot center dot center dot pi intermolecular interactions. The N-H center dot center dot center dot O and O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds generate edge-fused R-4(4)(26) rings. The phthalide ring system of the molecule is almost planar and forms a dihedral angle of 63.02 (7)degrees with the second benzene ring.
