3-(4-methylpyridin-2-ylamino)isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one

Abstract

Crystals of the title compound, C14H12O2N2, are stabilized by inversion-related N-(HN)-N-... and C-(HO)-O-... inter-molecular hydrogen bonds and also by two C-H-...pi inter-actions. The N-(HN)-N-... and C-(HO)-O-... hydrogen bonds generate R-2(2)(8) and R-2(2)(10) ring motifs, respectively, and the phthalide section of the mol-ecule is planar. The dihedral angle between the phthalide group and the pyridyl ring is 82.06 (17)degrees.
