Abstract

The crystal structure of the title compound, C14H10N2O5 center dot H2O, is stabilized by inversion-related O-H center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot O intermolecular hydrogen bonds and also by pi-pi interactions. The dihedral angle between the phthalide group and the benzene ring is 51.45 (8)degrees.
