Developing an attitude scale of university students towards "hemsehrilik": Study of reliability and validity
Özet
In this article, a study of reliability and validity of Attitude Scale of University Students Towards Hemsehrilik (ASUSTH) which prepared to determine attitude of university students towards hemsehrilik, is introduced. The study of reliability and validity of the scale was carried out on 295 university students (female 116, male 129). ASUSTH is a 5-point likert scale consists of 21 items. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were applied for testing construct validity of ASUSTH. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, scale has single factorial structure that explains 36.11 % of total variance, was demonstrated. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that one factor solution explains relations among items sufficient and fit index of received model has acceptable level. In order to test concurrent validity correlation between ASUSTH and HTO [10] was found r = 0.78, p < 0.001. In order to determine reliability of scale Cronbach Alpha Coefficient was calculated. Correlations of item total scores of scale ranged from 0.47 to 0.67. Cronbach Alpha Coefficient 0.91 and Spearman-Brown internal consistency reliability 0.83 were found. The findings indicated that ASUSTH was valid and reliable instrument that can be used to understand attitude of university students towards hemsehrilik.
