Thalamus is the grey material substance which has important roles either in transmitting several senses to the primer sense center in cerebral cortex or in transmitting the informations which come from cerebellum and basal ganglions to the motor zone of cerebral cortex. Thalamus has nucleuses which are responsible of the functions. These nucleuses are also in relation with the central nerve system. Roles of thalamus in neurologic diseases such as dementia, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and migraine have been demonstrated in several studies. Therefore thalamus is small in volume but important in function in neurology practice.en_US
