1991-1996 Thyroid Cancers Statistics in the Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine

Abstract

Total 32134 cases was inspected between 1991-1996 years in The Ondokuz Mayis University, Faculty of Medicine, Departmant of Pathology and 44 cases were diagnosed as thyroid carcinomas. 37 cases of total 44 cases are women, 7 cases are men, Women/Men ratio is 5,2; average age is 44.7 and age range is 9-84. As histologic subtypes, papillary carcinomas are 70.4% (31 cases), follicular (5 cases) and Anaplastic carcinomas (5 cases) are 11,4% and medullary carcinomas are 6,8% (3 cases). Cases are compared to period of 1985-1990 in parameters of age, sex and histologic subtype and findings are discussed in the light of the literature.
