besin kalitesinin amerikan beyazkelebegi, Hyphantria cunea (Drury, 1773), (LEPIDOPTERA: ARCTIIDAE)'NİN ÜREME VE GELİŞMESİNE ETKİSİ ÖZET Bu çalışmada, polhaj herbivor bir güve olan Hyphantria cunea (Drury, 1773) larvalarının beslendiği bazı bitki türleri besin kalitesi bakımından karşılaştınlmıştır. Son evreye ulaşan H. cunea larvaları Catalpa bignonioides, Quercus cerris, Coryllus maxima ve Carpinus orientalis türleri ile 14 gün süren beslenme deneyi ile incelenmiştir. Özellikle, orman alanlarına ve ekonomik önemi olan taran ürünlerine zarar veren H. cunea larvalarına çalışmada kullanılan bitki türlerindeki çeşitli kimyasal maddelerin etki biçimleri incelenmiştir. H. cunea larvalarının toplam protein miktarı yüksek olan Q. cerris ve C. orientalist toplam protein miktarı daha az olan C. bignonioides ve C. maxima'ya. göre daha az tükettikleri tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte çalışmada kullanılan bitkilerin tüketim miktarı ile larva gelişimi arasında doğrudan bir ilişki bulunamamıştır. Bunun nedeni tanenler gibi fenolik bileşiklerin proteinlerin sindirimini belirli ölçülerde sınırlaması olabilir. Kimyasal analizler, toplam fenolik ve proantosiyanidin (yoğunlaşmış tanen) içeriğinin Q. cerris ve C. orientalis'te, C. bignonioides ve C. maxima^ göre daha fezla bulunduğunu göstermiştir. Bu Q. cerris ve C. orientalist beslenen larvalardaki pupa ölüm oranının, C. bignonioides ve C. maxima ile beslenen larvalannkinden daha düşük olmasına neden olmuş olabilir Anahtar kelimeler: Hyphantria cunea, larva, tanen, protein, AD, ECD, ECI.

11 THE EFFECT OF FOOD QUALITY ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND REPRODUCTION OF Hyphantria cunea (Drury, 1773) (LEPIDOPTERA: ARCTIIDAE) ABSTRACT In this study, feeding of Hyphantria cunea (Drury, 1773) larvae, a polyphagous herbivore, on some plant species was compared in respect to the food quality. H cunea larvae, reached the last instar, was investigated in 14 day-feeding experiment on Catalpa bignonioides, Quercus cerris, Coryllus maxima and Carpinus orientalis. Especially, effect types of various chemical compounds was investigated on the larvae of//, cunea, damage to forestfield and agricultral products that have economical value. It was determined mat H. cunea larvae consumed both Q. cerris and C. orientalis that had high total protein content, less than both C. bignonioides and C.maxima that had more low total protein content than above plant species. However, a relation was not found between consumption the plants, utilized on the experiment, and development of larvae. This might be to arise from some degrees limitation of phenolics compounds as tannins on protein digestion. The chemical analysis demonstrated that the total phenolics and proanthocyanidin (condensed tannin) contents were higher man in Q. cerris and C. orientalis man C. bignonioides and C. maxima. This may caused lower pupa mortality in the larvae fed on Q. cerris and C. orientalis than the larvae fed on C. bignonioides and C. maxima.
