Abstract
n ABSTRACT In this study, the computer program ( GENII ) is used for calculations of various environmental radiation doses in the human body. The calculations are based on air concentrations, soil concentrations, yield concentrations, animal product, external finite plume, external soil, human-inhalation, human-ingestion and yield the radiation dose magnitudes received by an organ or organs of a person community. In the first scenario, the radiation concentrations of 1-131, Cs-137, Cs-134, La- 140, Ba-140, Ru-103, Ce-144, Ce-141, Te-132, radioactive isotopes received from air through inhalation and external exposure to the plume for 45 days is assumed, and the effective dose for a person is calculated to be 2.4E-3 Sv. In the second scenario, the radioactive isotopes Zr-95 and Nb-95 are added to the first scenario and the external radiation doses, taken by a person after 45 days exposure, from the soil, are calculated and a value of 1.2E-3 Sv is estimated. In the third scenario, the calculations are performed considering the three isotopes, 1-131, Cs-137 and Cs-134 in milk and milk products and 9.4E-5 Sv and 5.9 E-5 Sv are estimated for adults and children respectively. In the fourth scenario, the concentration received from the food grown in soil and the food taken from animals after the emission of isotopes 1-131, Cs-137, La-140, Ru-103, Ce-144, Ce-141, and Te-131, in the atmosphere is calculated and doses for winter, spring, summer and autumn seasons are estimated to be 3.3E-9 Sv, 2.9E-6 Sv, 3.8E-6 Sv, and 2.3E-5 Sv, respectively. In the fifth scenario, the emission of the isotopes, 1-131, Cs-137, La-140, Ru- 103, Ce-144, Ce-141, and Te-131 are considered in the atmospheric cloud up to 89 m altitude. It is assumed that the doses are taken through inhalation, exposure to external infinite plume, terrestrial food and animal product. The total population, considered in different direction and distances is 551038. It is calculated out that the internal equivalent dose is 2.2E-7Sv, external equivalent dose is 4.4 E-10Sv and annual effective dose is 2.2E-7Sv. In the sixth scenario, the results reported by TAEK in the report of April 1988 and GENU are compared. Both give similar results. GENII yields that the total dose taken by a person is 0.650 mSv and the corresponding value reported by TAEK is 0.574 mSv. In all scenarios, h is observed that, among the considered radioactive elements Cs-137 most accumulates in all of the organs considered, except liver and thyroid. However, 1-131 accumulates in thyroid and Ce-144 accumulates in liver, and the daughter radionuclides accumulate with a very small ratio in all organs.
