In this study, a new algorithm is presented for the stopping power calculation in the case of incoming positrons. The Rohrlich and Carlson stopping power formula is modified for intermediate energy positrons. The Lenz-Jensen statistical atomic density model has been used for the calculations of the effective electron number and effective mean excitation energies of the target atoms. The calculated results of the stopping power for positrons in some materials, such as aluminium, silicon, copper, and liquid water, are compared with a number of other calculations such as the PENELOPE 03 code results. © 2006 The Physical Society of the Republic of China.en_US
