The synthesis of 4,5-Bis(2-tert-butylphenoxy)phthalonitrile was described. It was observed that the compound contained three aromatic rings, which were not coplanar and which were distorted from ideal C<inf>2v</inf> symmetry. It was also observed that the bond lengths at oxygen were essentially equal, the C4-O1-C9-C14 and C5-O2-C19-C24 torsion angles of -125.09 (16) and 121.21 (16)° respectively, were different. It was found that the crystal structure of the compound involved four intramolecular C-H...O hydrogen bonds.en_US
