Ders Kitaplarındaki Tasarım Sorunları ve Öğrencilerin Öğrenme Düzeyine Etkisi

Abstract

Çağımız, birçok teknolojik gelişmeyi içeren bir bilgi çağıdır. Eğitim araçları da bilime ve teknolojiye paralel olarak gelişmekte ve değişmektedirler. Bilgisayar, CD, internet gibi birçok modern interaktif (etkileşimli) araç olmasına rağmen, baskılı eğitim materyalleri hala ilgi görmektedir. İnsanlarla etkileşerek bilginin aktarılmasını sağlayan kitaplar çok önemsenmelidir ve bilgi estetik bir bütünlük içerisinde sunulmalıdır. Platon, estetik eğitimin, eğitimin temeli olduğunu söyler. Eğer estetik bilincin ve sanata ilginin geliştirilmesi gelişmiş bir toplum olmanın ilk şartı olarak düşünülürse, tasarım olgusunun önemi de net bir hale gelir. Kültür bakanlığı tarafından yayınlanan kitaplarda bulunan görsel problemlerin sebebi, düzenlemenin geçici çözümler ve çabuk-tükenen resimler içermesidir. Estetik ve tasarımdan yoksun bir anlayış, eğitim açısından düşünce karmaşasına neden olacak ve benzer nedenler kitabı gerçek amacından uzaklaştıracaktır. Okullarımızda ana bilgi kaynağı olarak kullanılan kitaplarda öğrenme seviyesini olumsuz şekilde etkileyen ve niteliksel olarak eksik içerikten kaynaklanan bazı tasarım problemleriyle karşılaşılmaktadır. Ders kitaplarının tasarımı, belirli tasarım ilkelerinin uygulanmasını gerektirir. Eğitim bilimciler, görsel öğrenmenin, çocukların öğrenmesinde etkili yöntemlerden birisi olduğunu belirtmektedir. Kitaplarda yer alan görsel öğelerin, metnin anlaşılmasını kolaylaştırdığı bilinmektedir. Bu yüzden, geleceğimiz olan çocuklarımıza estetik bir şekilde bilgi sunacak eğitimcilere ve grafik tasarımcılara her zamankinden çok ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.

Our era is an information era including many technological developments. The education equipments have also developed and varied in parallel to science and technology. Although there are a lot of modern interactive equipments like CD, computer and internet, the pressed education equipments are still in demand. The books which provide the transfer of information by interacting with people must be considered significantly, and the information must be presented in an aesthetic integration. Platon says: "aesthetic education is the basis of the education ". If the development of aesthetic conscious and the interest in art is thought as the first stipulation to become a contemporary society, the importance of design phenomenon becomes clear. The main cause of visual problems detected in the books published by the Ministry of Culture is that the arrangement includes temporary solutions and fast-exhausted pictures. A comprehension which is deprived of aesthetic and design will result in a thought chaos in the aspect of education, and such reasons will take the book away from its real purpose. The course books must reflect the expression of the knowledge with artistic merits by exciting the readers visually and aesthetically. There are encountered with some design problems that result from deficient content qualitatively and influence the learning level in a negative manner in the books which are used as the main knowledge source at our schools. The design of course books necessitates the application of definite design principles. Educationists declare that the visual learning is one of the effective methods in learning of the children. It is known that the visual elements taking place in the books facilitate the comprehension of the text. So, educators and graphic designers, who will teach the knowledge in an aesthetic manner to our children that are our future, are needed much more than ever.
