Lojistik Regresyon Analiziyle Öğretmen Adaylarının Depresyon Durumunu Etkileyen Faktörlerin Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmen adaylarının depresyon düzeylerininve depresyona sebep olabilecek risk faktörlerinin lojistik regresyon analizi ilebelirlenmesidir. Araştırmanın evrenini Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesinde2017-2018 öğretim yılında farklı anabilim dallarında öğrenimlerini sürdüren(197 kız, 209 erkek) öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. SPSS paket programındatek değişkenli ve çok değişkenli lojistik analiz ile öğretmen adaylarınındepresyon durumunu etkileyen faktörler modellenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada gelir düzeyi ve KPSS (Kamu Personeli Seçme Sınavı) değişkenlerininöğretmen adaylarının depresyon eğilimlerini belirlemede etkili faktörlerolduğu saptanmıştır. Araştırmada KPSS sınavına girecek öğretmen adaylarınındepresyon düzeylerinin KPSS sınavına girmeyen öğretmen adaylarına göreyaklaşık 10 kat daha fazla riske sahip olabileceği saptanmıştır. KPSS sınavınınöğretmen adaylarının kariyerlerini ve geleceklerini belirleyen önemli bir sınavhaline dönüşmesi son sınıfta öğrenimlerini sürdüren öğretmen adaylarındakidepresyon oranının artmasında etkili bir faktördür. Depresyondan KPSSsınavına girecek olan adayları koruyabilmek adına sınavla ilgili farkındalıkyaratılması öğretmenlik okuyan üniversite öğrencilerinde depresyonunoluşum sebeplerinden birisi olan psikososyal durumların etkisini azaltacağıdüşünülmektedir.

The aim of this study which is the determination of depression levels andrisk factors which may be the causes of depression in prospective teachers wasdetermined using logistic regression analysis. The participants of the researchwere prospective teachers (197 female 209 male) who were stil undertaking theirstudies in varions departments at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Universty in the2017-2018 academic year. The statistical analysis of the results obtained from thisresearch was done using the SPSS (version 21; IBM, Armonk, NY) packet program.The modelling of factors affecting the depression leves of the prospectiveteachers was undertaken using the univariate and multivariate logistic analysis.Income levels and KPSS (Civil Servant Selection Exam) were factors that showedto have meaningful impact on the depression levels of prospective teachers. Ithas been determined in the survey that the depression levels of the prospectiveteachers who will take the KPSS examination may have about 10 times morerisk than the teacher candidates who do not take the KPSS examination. The factthat the KPSS test is or at least perceived as an important test that determines thecareer and future of the prospective teachers is an effective factor in increasingthe rate of depression in the prospective teachers who continue their education inthe last grade. In order to protect candidates who are going to take the KPSS testfrom the depression, increasing awareness about the exam is thought to diminishthe psychosocial situations which are one of the causes of depression in the universitystudents who are studying teaching.
