Aim: The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between the supportive care needs of lung cancer patients and the level of perceived social support, and the study was conducted as a descriptive and correlational study. Material and Method: The sample of the study consisted of 208 lung cancer outpatients treated in the chemotherapy unit of Ondokuz Mayıs University Health Application and Research Center Oncology Hospital between 10.07.2019 and 30.03.2020. Patient Identifying Information Form, which consisted of questions about the socio-demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients, the Supportive Care Needs Survey-Short Form (SCNS-SF), the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and the FACT-L Quality of Life Scale were used for data collection. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to analyze whether the data conformed to normal distribution. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationship between the scores. The independent variables that affect the total and sub-dimension scores of the scales were analyzed with multiple linear regression analysis. Backward method was used to include independent variables in the model. Findings: The mean score of the SCNS-SF was found to be 107.4±27.1, the mean score of the MSPSS was found to be 60.0±18.6, and the mean score of the FACT-L Quality of Life Scale was found to be 71.8±23.5.The total and sub-dimension mean scores of SCNS-SF, MSPSS, and FACT-L Quality of Life Scale were found to vary by the socio-demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients. A statistically significant, negative, and moderate relationship was found between the scores of SCNS-SF and FACT-L Quality of Life Scale (r=-0.428, p=<0.001). A moderate and positive relationship was determined between MSPSS and FACT-L Quality of Life Scale (r=0.447, p=<0.001). Conclusion: It was determined that there was no relationship between the supportive care needs of lung cancer patients and the level of perceived social support, that the quality of life decreased as the supportive care requirements increased, nevertheless, their quality of life improved as their perceived social support level increased.
