Kanonik bağlamda The Giver filminin okunması ve bir çözüm önerisi olarak postmodernizm

Abstract

Felsefe ve bilim, sanatın tüm dallarıyla sürekli iletişim hâlindedir. Bunun yanı sıra sanat akımlarının temelinde her daim bir felsefenin bulunması, bu birlikteliği perçinleyen unsur olarak görünür. Bu bağlamda The Giver adlı sinema filmi söz konusu ilişkiler ağının bir ürünü olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Filmde kullanılan tekniklerde, işlenen konu ve temada ‘felsefe ve sanat ilişkisi’ başlığı altında pek çok ortak nokta mevcuttur. Ayrıca filmin daha önce yazılmış bir romandan uyarlanması, ele alınan konu için oldukça uygun bir zemin oluşturmaktadır.Edebiyatın kendine has bir şekilde kullanılmayıp, kanonik bir boyut kazanması, onun değerinde bir eksilmeye sebebiyet verir. Edebiyat kanonları bu açıdan oldukça dikkat edilmesi gereken bir konudur. Belli bir zümrenin kendi niyetleri doğrultusunda bir sanat kanonu oluşturmaya çalışması bazı dönemlerde rastlanılan bir davranıştır. Filmde de toplumun bir kanona maruz bırakılması durumu işlenmektedir. Bu çalışmada, filmdeki kanonik unsurlar ortaya çıkartılmaya ve söz konusu kanonik unsurlara bir çözüm önerisi olarak postmodern düşüncenin savları ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır.

Philosophy and science are in constant communication with all branches of art. Besides, the fact that there is always a philosophy at the basis of art movements seems to be a factor that reinforces this unity. In this context, the movie named The Giver appears as a product of the network in question. In the techniques used in the film, there are many common points in the subject and theme under the title of 'philosophy and art relationship'. In addition, the adaptation of the film from a novel written earlier provides a very suitable basis for the subject. The fact that literature is not used in its own way and that it is instrumental in malicious purposes causes a decrease in its value. Literary canons are an issue to be considered in this respect. It is a behavior encountered in certain periods to try to form an art canon in line with the intentions of a certain group. In the film, the situation of the society being exposed to a canon is covered. In this study, the canonical elements in the film will be revealed and the arguments of postmodern thought as a solution proposal for these canonical elements will be tried to be revealed.
