Desulfurization of two Turkish lignites by chlorinolysis
Abstract
The desulfurization of two Turkish lignites by chlorinolysis with chlorine gas in carbon tetrachloride in the presence of water and at ambient pressure was examined. Almost all of the inorganic sulfur, and a significant portion of the organic sulfur in the coal samples was removed. The effects of reaction time (0-360 min), temperature (20-70°C), and coal-to-carbon tetrachloride ratio (0.1-1 wt/v) on the desulfurization have been studied. © 1990.
